Religious Upbringing Holds Me Back

I was introduced to the Book of Not Knowing in 2013. I’ve read it multiple times. I’ll use it’s concepts for a little bit here and there, but I always seem to go back to religion.

After going back to religion for a bit, I always end up coming back to Peter Ralston’s ideas.

Religion provides people with many things. It provides culture, a sense of belonging, and perceived help in times of helplessness.

The main reason I keep coming back to it, I think, is that religion was planted into my subconscious at a young age.

How can I move forward in my consciousness work when I inherited religion from my family upbringing? I feel like religion is holding me back, as a person.
