The classic trap I get into.
At times, when I contemplate, I begin to doubt the validity of what I recognize and confuse this doubt with contemplation. But, it seems like doubt comes from a different place than inquiry. I’ve noticed that doubt is way more automatic and reactive, like a default response from something I believe. So far, it seems like it’s the belief that I don’t know or am not worthy of knowing, but I suspect there’s something “underneath” that as well. Whereas inquiry seems to naturally come from recognizing that I actually don’t know.
Any comments on this experience?
